FAQ
How does Laser Hair Removal work and why choose THE ONE for your Laser Hair Removal?
The Cutera xeo®uses ND: Yag CoolGlide technology for laser hair removal treatments. This is a highly demanded treatment for permanent hair reduction and removal. During the treatment the CoolGlide targets the melanin in each hair follicle with high heat, and destroys the bulb safely and effectively. The unique design and longer wavelengths allow extremely effective and safe results.
How does laser hair removal differ from other hair removal methods?
The main difference is that laser hair removal provides long lasting results. Many clients often ask the difference between laser hair removal and electrolysis. Electrolysis is a tedious process that takes a lot more time than laser hair removal. With electrolysis a needle is inserted into each individual hair follicle and delivers a charge one follicle at a time where CoolGlide targets larger areas more effectively by delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at one time. Electrolysis would be considered a better option only if you are trying get rid of hair that is thinner and lighter in colour in a small area, such as the upper lip.
Can Laser Hair Removal be done on all skin types?
Yes, it can be done on all skin types. The frequency can also be adjusted based on the Fitzpatrick scale and what is best for the client’s skin. Since the laser is designed to pick up and transfer heat to any pigmentation, the ultimate candidates for laser hair removal have a lighter skin tone with dark hair.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed varies by skin type, hair density and growth patterns. Most areas require at least 3-6 treatments depending on these factors. We offer reduced package rates of 6 treatments for the best results. There may be a need of more touch up sessions depending on hair type. Although permanent reduction will not be seen after just one treatment, the percentage of hair growth will diminish with each treatment and you will see a thinning of the hair – making it easier to manage and maintain in between treatments until the desired results are achieved.
Is it painful?
You may experience a mild discomfort with laser hair removal and discomfort will vary based on the area being treated. The sensation is often described as a small pinching or stinging on the skin. The option to ice the area before the laser hair removal is available, as this will slightly numb the skin and decrease discomfort. No anaesthesia or pain medication is required for this treatment.
What happens after Treatment?
Immediately after your CoolGlide treatment it is normal for the area to appear pinkish and a bit swollen. You can return to any normal activities right after your treatment. It is recommended to wear SPF on any treated areas that are exposed to the sun. In between CoolGlide treatments you should not wax or pluck the hair of the treated area.
